2018 Chelsea Cain High School Writers Competition

We have winners!! Local High School Writers Finesse Their Fiction!!

For the 8th year, aspiring young writers from around the region submitted short fiction pieces to Write On The River’s High School Writers Competition, and judges picked from stiff competition the three top contenders for 2018. Honorable Mention goes to Morgan Rosentrater, an Eastmont High School junior in Running Start, for “She Left With the 12:00 Train” and to Logan Reinier, a senior at Entiat Middle High School, for “The Drearwood Thieves.” The winner of the competition and its $100 cash prize is Dagan Anderson, an Eastmont High School sophomore, for “Honey.”

The generous sponsor of the annual competition is New York Times best-selling thriller author Chelsea Cain, a 2010 WOTR conference presenter and a champion of student writing. Judges were journalist Mike Irwin, WOTR volunteer Peggy Peterson, and last year’s winner Christopher Danko, a senior at Wenatchee High School. All three winners receive free registration for WOTR’s June 23rd Writing Workshop Weekend: Focus on Fiction.
