2020 Writers Competition

Deadline is midnight, February 1

If you’re polishing up a short story or essay (1000 words max) for the 2020 Write On The River Writers Competition, be ready to press “send” by midnight Saturday, February 1. That’s the submission deadline for this year’s competition, which is open to any Washington state resident living east of the Cascade Mountains.
This marks the thirteenth year of the competition. Cash awards totaling $1200 will again be awarded to six writers, and the entry fee is still only $20, or $40 with three written critiques.

Membership in WOTR is not a requirement for those living in Easter Washington, but it is a requirement for any writer living elsewhere in Washington. We are not accepting out-of-state submissions. The fee is $20 per submission or $40 per submission (the latter includes entry in the contest plus three written critiques.)
