Write On The River is pleased to congratulate Kimberly Smith of Eastmont High School for winning our 2014 High School Writers Competition for her short story, Violet Sleep and Steep Staircase.  Kimberly will receive a $100 cash reward, generously donated by former Write On The River Keynote Speaker and NY Times Bestselling author Chelsea Cain.  She will also be recognized at our Writing Conference May 16-18.

We would also like to recognize our Honorable Mentions:  Edan Patterson of Wenatchee High School for The Fall of Orion, and Ella Hall of Liberty Bell High School for When the Snow Fell.

The panel of six judges discussed at length several excellent pieces and commented on the overall maturity of the writing style and the depth of themes. This year’s entrants have written some involving and reader-grabbing fiction!  Thanks to all for submitting work to the competition.
