Write On The River’s New High School Writers’ Contest!

by admin Conference News. Posted on December 30, 2011.

For the first time ever, Write On The River will have a special Writing Competition just for NCW students in grades 9-12!  Our first place winner will receive:

  • $100 Cash Award
  • A Special “Writers’ Gift”
  • Free attendance to the 2012 Write On The River Youth Writers Workshop on May 19 ($30 value)

Every high school student in our region is eligible to participate.  This is a SHORT FICTION competition with a 1,000 word limit; entries can be either a short story or the first chapter from a novel.

The winning writer will be announced by April 20th, and Write On The River reserves the right to re-print winning submissions.

The contest only costs $10 per entry, and all submissions are due by March 30, 2012.

Every competition participant is eligible to attend, free of charge, the Saturday May 19 Young Writers Workshop on the WVC campus!

Good luck, and good writing!

This competition is generously sponsored by New York Times best selling author and 2011 Write On The River Conference keynote speaker Chelsea Cain.
