NaNoWriMo
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo in shorthand), is an annual international literary sensation. Millions of people all over the world have participated – hundreds of thousands every year!
NaNoWriMo inspires people from all walks of life to dust off their literary ambitions and finally write that novel they’ve always dreamed of. Participants are challenged to write a complete novel (of at least 50,000 words), start to finish, in the month of November.
It’s daunting. It’s ambitious. It’s wicked fun. And it’s a great way to jump-start your writing life, or zap new energy into one that’s been stalled.
Write on the River will be hosting a local NaNoWriMo support group in 2011 to encourage local writers (and those who want to become on) to take this challenge on. We’ll meet three times: once in late October to strategize, organize and energize. Once in mid-November to check-in, high-five, and cheer on. And once in early December to celebrate success (or valiant effort in pursuit thereof).
Thirty days and nights of literary abandon. A novel completed, and ready to revise to pitch at our May Write on the River Conference. Friends made, connections fostered. It’s gonna be a beautiful thing.
Join Write on the River, and take on the NaNoWriMo challenge. Email Dan at writeontheriverweb@gmail.com for more information and to sign up. This program is open to anyone brave and bold enough to take it on!
